Curation notes
EMSA used in experiment tested for binding to promoter, not to putative sites. However, as the consensus binding sequence for OmpR is well characterized, it can be said with relative certainty that OmpR binds at least one of the two sites.

Experimental Process

Experimenters first identified 2 putative binding sites in the flhDC promoter region. Next they ran an EMSA of the promoter region, and found that OmpR bound it. Finally, they used a OmpR::lacZYA operon fusion to preform a B-gal assay which showed a positive regulatory role for OmpR

Gene Regulation

Regulated genes for each binding site are displayed below. Gene regulation diagrams show binding sites, positively-regulated genes, negatively-regulated genes, both positively and negatively regulated genes, genes with unspecified type of regulation. For each indvidual site, experimental techniques used to determine the site are also given.
