Experimental Process

A putative Clp binding site with seven of 10 bases matching the consensus was identified in the gsmR promoter. Gel retardation assay confirmed that Clp binds to the gsmR upstream region. gsmR-lacZ reporter assay showed that the expression of gsmR requires Clp and is subject to catabolite repression.

Gene Regulation

Regulated genes for each binding site are displayed below. Gene regulation diagrams show binding sites, positively-regulated genes, negatively-regulated genes, both positively and negatively regulated genes, genes with unspecified type of regulation. For each indvidual site, experimental techniques used to determine the site are also given.
