Deletion analysis coupled with beta-gal assays revealed that HipB self-represses, and that HipA has also a minor contribution to this effect. EMSA with fragments of the hipAB promoter region and HipB demonstrated binding to specific fragments. The region was then inspected with DNAse footprinting, identifying four inverted repeats.
The paper reports that TF forms complex with other proteins for binding with reported sites.
HipB forms complex with HipA, but the later is not strictly required for binding.
Regulated genes for each binding site are displayed below. Gene regulation diagrams show binding sites, positively-regulated genes, negatively-regulated genes, both positively and negatively regulated genes, genes with unspecified type of regulation. For each indvidual site, experimental techniques used to determine the site are also given.
