Three palindromic binding sites with a 5 bp spacing were identified by similarity to the phage P1 operator sequence. Self-regulation of the chromosomal TA system was shown using beta-gal assays, and these were also used to show that the presence of Doc enhanced repression in vivo. The palindromic binding unit was determined by constructing a promoter with a single palindromic binding site and mutagenizing some of its bases.
The paper reports that TF forms complex with other proteins for binding with reported sites.
Authors note increased repression in complex with Doc
Regulated genes for each binding site are displayed below. Gene regulation diagrams show binding sites, positively-regulated genes, negatively-regulated genes, both positively and negatively regulated genes, genes with unspecified type of regulation. For each indvidual site, experimental techniques used to determine the site are also given.
