Promoter-β-galactosidase reporter assays and RT-PCR experiments showed the involvement of Clp in the expressions of the GGDEF domain proteins. The XCC1294 transcription initiation point was located by the 5′ RACE method.A predicted Clp binding site, with 7/10 bases matching the consensus sequence, was located at −35/−50 relative to the XCC1294 transcription initiation point. A gel retardation assay confirmed that Clp upregulates XCC1294 expression in a direct manner.
Regulated genes for each binding site are displayed below. Gene regulation diagrams show binding sites, positively-regulated genes, negatively-regulated genes, both positively and negatively regulated genes, genes with unspecified type of regulation. For each indvidual site, experimental techniques used to determine the site are also given.
