Experimental Process

Proteoase activity assay determines iron regulation of vvpE. Repression by Fur shown with luciferase assays with fur mutant. Two binding regions identified by DNAse footprinting. Site-directed mutagenesis with EMSA and luciferase assays to demonstrate importance of both binding regions. Sites identified based on similarity to described consensus.
