Experimental Process

qRT-PCR and primer extension techniques were applied to show Fur-mediated activation of transcription. Specifically, the expression level of the target genes was decreased in a fur mutant strain. Binding of Fur to the putative binding site in the oorDABC promoter region was confirmed by fluorescence anisotropy assays.

Gene Regulation

Regulated genes for each binding site are displayed below. Gene regulation diagrams show binding sites, positively-regulated genes, negatively-regulated genes, both positively and negatively regulated genes, genes with unspecified type of regulation. For each indvidual site, experimental techniques used to determine the site are also given.
