Experimental Process

Putative Fur binding sites were identified by genome-wide search using Genamics Expression Software. Specific binding of Fur to the Fur boxes was shown via EMSA. Fur-regulated expression was confirmed by using cat reporter system. Additionally, introduction of a Fur box in the promoter region of a gene otherwise non-Fur-regulated cause this gene to exhibit Fur-dependent regulation.

Gene Regulation

Regulated genes for each binding site are displayed below. Gene regulation diagrams show binding sites, positively-regulated genes, negatively-regulated genes, both positively and negatively regulated genes, genes with unspecified type of regulation. For each indvidual site, experimental techniques used to determine the site are also given.
